Old Plan
I am planning to replace the current arrangement in the back room with a loco shed because I am accumulating more locos than anything else. This is my current proposal:
It is based on a mirror image of Bournemouth Central with the shed reduced from four roads to two. The storage sidings in the garage are through the wall to the left. The garden is through the wall to the right. The baseboards are two feet deep and sit below my 3mm layout.
The two shed roads and the back road to the left side will be covered so that they can be leaned on to help reach the two tracks at the back where locos are coupled and uncoupled from their trains. Trains are marshalled on these tracks and reversed into the garage ready for the next operating session.
The front of the two road shed will probably be modelled. The cross to the right represents the turntable.

(Not a joke!)
As with most railway modellers I am accumulating stock faster than the layout, or its plan, grows. This is my latest plan for the back room. It increases my storage capacity and neatly uses 2 sides of the room without encroaching into the centre with a curve.
The single track from garage to garden with run round loop is as before but instead of the loco shed I have storage sidings. One siding leads to a turntable giving access to a loco yard, probably with a low relief loco shed at the end.
