Fredrick Pecina, 53, a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at home June 30, 2022, surrounded by family.
During his college years at Texas Tech University he had many ups and downs, but he stayed focused on his goal, becoming the first in his family to graduate from college. His freshman year he joined a new fraternity on campus, Omega Delta Phi. His contribution and leadership helped advance his beloved fraternity from a single chapter (Alpha) to four (Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon) during his time there. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of brothers to come. He also met and fell in love with Trina Martinez while attending Texas Tech. And, on December 19, 1992, Fred attended his college graduation ceremony in the morning and married Trina that afternoon.
Fred and Trina raised two daughters. As much as Fred loved cars, baseball and working hard, Victoria and Alexandria turned Fred into a proud and devoted “girl dad.” His love and support of his daughters had no limit. His “why” had expanded to include his new family.
Fred excelled in his career. He progressed from being an Inroads intern at Kaiser Permanente to full-time employment there after college. He then continued to be a high performer at Blue Cross, and Healthsource-Cigna before joining MHBT. He was a partner in the agency when they merged with Marsh & McLennan Agency and eventually became the Head of Office for the Fort Worth branch. For more than 22 years he worked hard at the agency, earning recognition and awards on a regular basis.
Fred received many accolades throughout his career, but his proudest accomplishments were the long list of experiences he shared with his family. His priority was making a difference in the lives of his wife, daughters, granddaughters, parents, in-laws, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews and his extended family of fraternity brothers, friends and coworkers. He had a Servant’s Heart and brightened every room he walked into with positivity, joy and an undeniable sense of humor. He was a natural leader and had the ability to make the people around him better by always seeing the best in others. He had a way of making everyone feel included.
Fredrick Pecina set an example of a life well lived. His laugh was unforgettable. His generosity inspiring. He will be missed beyond measure by many.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Pecina; and his father, Joe Pecina.
He is survived by his wife, Trina Pecina; daughter, Victoria Weis and husband, Chris; daughter, Alexandria Pecina; granddaughters, Adalyn and Olivia Weis; his mother, Gloria Pecina; brothers, Joe Diaz and wife, Sherri, Robert Pecina and wife, Barbara and John Pecina; sister, Delinda Pecina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ivan Christopher Martinez

Beloved husband and father, Ivan Christopher Martinez died unexpectedly in Houston, Texas on May 27, 2023. He was 57 years old. Ivan was born on November 29, 1965, in Pecos, Texas. He graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock, Texas, and had two degrees from Texas Tech University – a B.A. in Political Science and Master’s in Public Administration. He was a founding Charter Member of Omega Delta Phi Fraternity and played football at Texas Tech. Ivan will best be remembered as someone who never met a stranger and never encountered a person he did not like. He was a kind, generous, hard-working, and thoughtful man who loved fishing, hunting, golf and simply “living his best life” as an entrepreneur

Adrian Galvan

Adrian Galvan LUBBOCK-Adrian Galvan passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 38 years on Monday, April 13, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Alliance Baptist Church. Adrian was born on July 22, 1976, to Joe and Yolanda (Contreras) Galvan in Brownfield. He graduated from Lovington High School and Texas Tech University. He married the love of life, Deanna Mojica, on Sept. 15, 2001, in Lubbock. Adrian was a man of great faith and love for his heavenly father. He so loved the camaraderie among his fraternity brothers of Omega Delta Phi, his second family at Star Care for 12 years, and all the players and coaches of Little League baseball that he was honored to coach. Most of all, he loved his family and children. Adrian, also known to many as Dre, had so much love for everyone. He will never be forgotten. Those left to cherish Adrian's memories include his wife, Deanna Galvan; a son, Alejandro Galvan; a daughter, Daniela Galvan; his parents, Joe and Yolanda Galvan of Lovington, NM; a brother, Richard (Becky) Contreras of Brownfield; maternal grandfather, John Contreras of Brownfield; paternal grandmother, Esther Galvan of Hobbs, NM; and father and mother-in-law, Joe (Francine) Mojica of Cotton Center.

Camilo Martinez

Dr. Camilo- Amado (Mayo) Martinez USN (Ret). Dr, Martinez was born on February 18, 1935 in Harlington, Texas. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Amado Martinez, Sr. and Bricelda Cano Martinez, son Amado, siblings Elida de la Fuente and Rene.
He is survived by his wife Elida Davila Martinez, sons David and Mario, and daughter Teresa, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grand children and sister, Maggie Ramirez. Amado graduated from HHS in 1953 and joined the Navy in 1955 retiring in 1976 as Senior Chief Aerographer (Meteorologist)
He served on 3 carriers, 1 DE and several overseas stations including Rota, Spain and Buenos Aires, Argentina. While in the Navy he attended University of Maryland and Old Dominion University. After retiring he continued to pursue a higher education.
He attended and earned a BA and MA at Pan American University and a PhD at Texas A&M College Station. He taught at PAU, CCSU, A&M Universities and Texas Tech University, from which he retired in 1998. While in the Navy, he acquired a love for reading. Prior to extended deployments, he would go to garage sales in search of books to buy and take along cruises. After retiring and attending school, he read all that was required for his classes. He promised himself that, upon his retiring from teaching, he would read for pleasure and that he did. While as a student and professor, Dr. Martinez was President of The Historical Honor Society, was faculty advisor to The Colombian Student Association, Young College Republican, Student's LULAC, and Faculty advisor to the first Hispanic fraternity in the United States Omega Delta Phi. He also served in various positions in the Lubbock, TX City Government, provided history sessions in Mexico's history during Fiestas Patrias and keynote speaker for "El Grito", Mexico's declaration of independence celebration. In 1985, he and two other professors represented the White House during Hispanic Awareness month in Corpus Christi, TX. Amado managed to accomplish much during his lifetime.
For his positive achievements he always credited God, Jehovah, and his dear wife, Elida. Without a doubt he experienced some failures, for them he always assumed full responsibility. Senior Chief Martinez had the privilege of serving as National Treasurer for the USS Kitty Hawk Veterans Association and as a member of the Scholarship Committee for the Naval Weather Service Association. He was, however, most proud of being a Member of East English Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Sunday June 12, 2011 at American Heritage Funeral with funeral services at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held at Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 12:30 PM

Roque Villarreal

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing o Rocky Villareal of Mt. Pleasant, TX on August 21st at the age of 41 years in Tyler, TX.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Frankie and Olivia Villareal; parents, Alfredo Villarreal and Josie Villarreal; sister, Cristina Villarreal-Mata; brother-in-law, Benito Mata; niece and nephews, Alexis, Benito Jr., and Cruz Mata; step-sister, Yaretzi; his children’s mother, Ida Mae Villarreal-Duffee, as well as numerous relatives, friends and fraternity brothers.
Rocky was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Francisca Gaytan; paternal grandparents, Socorro and Felipe Villarreal and uncle, Oscar Villarreal.
He enjoyed spending time with his family as they mean the world to him. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and was very proud to be a Tiger. After graduation, he attended Texas Tech where he pledged Alpha Chapter of Omega Delta Phi. Rocky was proud to be a Red Raider and part of his fraternity. He later attended Texas A&M Commerce and Northeast Texas Community College. He easily made friends with everyone he met. He managed to create memories with so many people and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in memory of him may be made to GoFundMe for Cristina Villarreal-Mata, for he loved his sister.
