PENGUINS! for The Art Shanty Project 2026!

Every year, the Giant Harriet penguin must shuffle its egg from the outskirts of Lake Harriet to the lake’s northern coast. The penguins meet to warm themselves and their eggs. Social creatures, they are usually willing to accept help from any vertebrate on the lake at that time. Like most penguins, the Giant Harriet penguin is chronically online, and is happy to interrupt its trek for a thoughtful selfie.

One part clown, one part ridiculous, PENGUINS! is an egg-rolling, bike-horn-honking, shenanigan-creating experience.

Our Art Shanty Project 2026 debut was on Saturday Jan. 17th, and final performance is from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday Feb. 1st!

Costumes and concept by Jen Scott.

Masks (and penguin-wrangling) by the incredible Lisa Colburn.

The Penguins! are Claire Chenoweth, Victoria Ryan, Bee Davis, Britt Johnson, William Schroeder, and Jen Scott.
