Be good, be good !

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

It has been a long time since I wrote tazkirah in the website. I don't know if the tazkirahs are being read or not, but I feel this is my way of gaining a few more hasanaat (pahala) inshaAllah. So here we go...

Lets discuss the second advice Luqmanul Hakim gave to his son in the Quran :

“And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two years, give thanks to Me and to your parents. Unto Me is the final destination.” (31:14)

First don't do shirk...Second, be good to our parents. This is very basic yet still very difficult to implement. What does being good to our parents means? Basically do everything that pleases our parents. Some parents likes their children to be obedient,...so as good muslims we should follow their wishes. Some parents wants their children to study very hard, so as good muslim we study very hard. Some parents like their children to help in the kitchen, do the dishes, washing clothes etc, if that will make our parents happy so do it! Why? We do it because Allah told us to be good to our parents. And every single step that we do to please our parents will be rewarded for sure. Every single hardship that we went through just to make our mak, ayah, ummi, abah happy will get rewarded. (but caution : make sure you do it with ikhlas, otherwise no reward there!)

Then Allah explains why in particular we need to be good to our mother. We need to be good to our mothers three times more than our father according to the hadith. Why? In the ayah above Allah explains the hardship that our mother faced when carrying us around in the belly, then she feed us with milk, all require patience and lots of energy. Our mother did all that with care and love, so Allah ordains us to be good to our parents PLUS teaching us to say thank you them and also to Allah for giving us good parents.

Final note on the ayah... "Unto Me is the final destination" Allah reminded us that, hey, don't forget! All of us will return to Allah one day..all will die and be judged in the hereafter. So don't associate anything to the God, be good to the parents as all will be accounted when we sat in front of the Lord of the universe one day in the day of judgement. Your effort for purifying your ILAH and doing anything that makes your parent happy inshaAllah be rewarded generously.
