Announcement
NKEA Members overwhelmingly ratified a three year contract on March 22, 2016.
Fair compensation was our number one priority for this bargain.
Our new contract includes a raise of 5.2% and a decrease in the number of additional report to work days from 7 days to 6 days.
With the 1.8% COLA from the state, this means that members will see a pay increase of 7% for 2016-17.
The fact that we were able to secure these gains so early in the bargaining cycle was a direct result of the strength and solidarity of our membership. Thank you!
Fair Compensation For NK Educators
We have been given a clear direction from our members on multiple surveys regarding compensation.
A BIG thank you to everyone who took the time to provide input!!
Thank YOU for Standing Strong and United
Your continued support is greatly appreciated by the NKEA Bargaining Team!
Ratification Meeting Last August
Thank you to the 197 members who attended our General Membership meeting in August!!
The documents below contain a summary of the one-year agreement which was presented to our members. Please see the "Strike-through version of the 2015-16 Contract" tab for more detailed information.
The Bargaining Team and Exec Board recommended ratification of the agreement, even though it does not include the fair compensation increase that you deserve. There are many other significant gains in the agreement-- we don't want to lose the good pieces in this contract which were a result of over 150 hours (24 days) of bargaining work.
The following motion was made and seconded:
To honor and secure the gains of this last bargain, I move to ratify this tentative agreement which is a one year agreement with the understanding that NKEA will begin an aggressive campaign to educate our members, parents, community, Board members, and Superintendent Patty Page that we are not receiving fair compensation commensurate with neighboring districts and other districts in or state of similar size, in preparation of possible action beginning at the start of next school year if fair compensation targets are not achieved in the next contract.
After about 1/2 hour of debate, discussion, and questions, members voted to approve the one-year agreement.
In order to secure fair compensation, all of us will need to participate in the education campaign. We have work to do and we need your help!
