The Naval Officers' Association of British Columbia (NOABC) was founded in 1919 at the end of WWI by returning Naval Officers to maintain the friendships that had been formed during the war and to promote a strong and modern Naval Service. Following the Second World War, the Naval Officers' Association of Canada was formed with branches developing across the country. NOABC joined this organization as an affiliate and has since remained so. In keeping with changes to the Royal Canadian Navy and to expand the membership eligibility, NOAC changed its name to the Naval Association of Canada (NAC) in 2012 with the various branches following suit. NOABC decided to retain its name until its 100th Anniversary in 1919 and on June 6th, 2020, at its annual general meeting the decision was made to change the name of the organization to Naval Association of British Columbia (NABC), remaining an affiliate of the Naval Association of Canada. The name change was officially confirmed under the British columbia Societies Act on 18 June 2020.
