I was born in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, and was taught to play chess by my grandfather at the age of 4. I guess something clicked because soon I was playing daily, and really enjoying the game. I moved to Toronto when I was 8 and started taking lessons and playing in tournaments at around that time. Eventually in 2013 I got the National Master title with hopefully others to come. My highest CFC rating so far was 2396 and some of my best performances include 2009 U1600 Toronto Open winner, 2012 and 2013 Ontario High School champion, 1st place at the 2013 Ontario Chess Challenge and 2nd place at the 2013 Canadian Chess Challenge. I've also represented Canada at the 2010 World Youth Chess Olympiad in Turkey and the World Youth Chess Championships in Brazil. Although I love chess I don't think it'll be my full-time profession and I intend to dedicate my life to teaching, at high-schools, universities, and homes of future champions! I will be attending University of Toronto on a full scholarship starting the fall of 2013, and I still hope to play and teach as much chess as possible!
