Race fees cover much more than what you see at the start line, including permits, insurance, venue fees, timing, bathrooms or portable toilets, aid-station supplies, event operations and the work required to put the race together.
NJ Trail Series uses MyLaps ProChip timing for its races.
At events using an ankle chip, you'll receive instructions at check-in about wearing and returning it. For example, 3 Days uses a ProChip on a Velcro ankle band and records each completed loop as runners cross the timing mat.
Plan to arrive at least one hour before your scheduled start unless your event page says otherwise.
Many NJ Trail Series events begin bib pickup/check-in approximately one hour before the race start.
Check your event page for exact start and check-in times.
Aid varies by event and race distance.
NJ Trail Series events generally provide water and traditional race/ultra aid, with longer events offering more substantial support. If there's something you absolutely need during your race, bring it yourself.

Some events are traditional trail races, some use repeated trail loops, and events at the Sussex County Fairgrounds use a flat, certified one-mile loop. Check the individual event page for the course description, map and any special instructions.
Some races have cutoffs; others are fixed-time events where the clock itself determines the end of the race.
Always check the individual event page for your race's start time and cutoff.
Absolutely.
For the timed and ultra events especially, walking is a completely normal part of covering the distance. Unless an individual race has a pace requirement or cutoff that affects you, there's no requirement that every mile be run.
