NIPC Mediation is a low cost dispute resolution service for intellectual property, technology, media and entertainment disputes. It is designed primarily for disputes involving individuals and small businesses. The service is intended to operate in conjunction with NIPC Arbitration which provides specialist low cost arbitration of such disputes.

Examples of the disputes that are ideally suited to mediation include those between

• inventors

• inventors and manufacturers, inventors, service providers and distributors

• hardware and software suppliers and their customers

• design right owners and applicants for licences of right

• applicants for trade marks and opponents

• licensors and licensees over royalty or licence fee payments

• universities and entrepreneurs over Lambert (research collaboration) agreements, and

• parties to a dispute before the courts or Intellectual Property Office.
