PhD Scholarship Offering: Pervasive Computing Technologies in Intensive Care Unit for the Improvements of Managing Medical Errors

Monash University Malaysia, School of Information Technology PhD scholarship offering 2015. Deadline for application 14 April, 2015

The position will be in an interdisciplinary area of human-computer interaction, work practice modeling and patient safety in intensive care unit. The candidate will explore the use of intelligent multi-agent environment using pervasive computing concept to create natural user interfaces for supporting doctors, and nurses patient care management. The natural user interfaces shall allow the medical team to visualize, and manipulate real-time vital signs assessed from hospital information system on their smart devices anywhere, anytime in the hospital setting during patient care planning. The PhD candidate will be collaborating with clinicians in the Intensive Care Unit at a hospital in Malaysia and with researchers at the School of Medicine Jeffrey Cheah, Monash University Malaysia.

Candidate Profile

-a Masters in Computer Science or Information Technology, or an equivalent degree (obtained before the start of their doctoral work)

-a good level of spoken and written English

-interest in working on interdisciplinary projects
