New playing members of all ages are always welcome. At present we are especially short of brass players. 

Joining the Orchestra

Contact the secretary or chairman and come along to a rehearsal to try us out. Please let us know if you plan to attend one of our rehearsals for the first time, e.g. by contacting the section leader or the chair of the orchestra (see 'contacts' page).

The orchestra plays challenging repertoire and new players should be of a standard to manage these works and we may assess you to ensure that you meet the necessary standard. As a guideline rank and file players should have a standard of Associated Board grade 7 or above. Section leaders or co-leaders would need to be much better than this. 

Subscriptions should be paid by the date of the orchestra AGM to enable you to participate in concerts and attend and vote at the AGM 

Full subscription is £235 for the year, and may be paid termly (£95 for  winter / spring terms, £45 summer). If paid on or before the date of the AGM the annual subscription is reduced to £210. 

For under 25s: £120 for the year (£100 if paid by AGM)

For under 18s: £10 each term.For under 18s*: 

*Eligibility for reduced rates is determined by age on 2nd September of the current season
