New playing members of all ages are always welcome. At present we are especially short of brass players. 

Joining the Orchestra

Contact the secretary or chairman and come along to a rehearsal to try us out. Please let us know if you plan to attend one of our rehearsals for the first time, e.g. by contacting the section leader or the chair of the orchestra (see 'contacts' page).

The orchestra plays challenging repertoire and new players should be of a standard to manage these works and we may assess you to ensure that you meet the necessary standard. As a guideline rank and file players should have a standard of Associated Board grade 7 or above. Section leaders or co-leaders would need to be much better than this. 

Subscriptions 2023/24  may be paid termly (£85 for  winter/ spring terms, £40 summer). If paid for entire year subscription is £210, or £200 if paid by October AGM.

For under 25s: £100 for the year

For students: £10 each term.

Please make cheques payable to "Newbury Symphony Orchestra" Special arrangements can be made in cases of financial hardship. If you are a taxpayer please get a gift aid form from the treasurer. Cheques can be posted to the orchestra Chair, see 'contacts'.
