My favorite statement:
Stamps.com offers a four week no-risk trial so that you may use our online postage service and determine if the service fits your mailing and shipping needs. Please note that we DO NOT offer a "free trial" -- our trial is labeled as "no risk trial." We do not mention the words "free trial" on any advertisement or on our site. (quote from is from Eric from this response to a complaint )
So it's not free for you to 'determine if the service fits your mailing and shipping needs'. It's RISK FREE for 4 weeks. After that you'll take all the risk stamps.com will give you. Ironically this is true.
the misleading positive comment:
"I hadn't ordered from Stamps.com in years, but my account was still there. I was impressed with how easy it was to upload the photos and order the stamps. It shipped quickly as well. It costs a little more than face value, but they are nice for special surprises, occasions and milestones in life."

i hadn't order from stamps.com in years with an active account.... wouldn't this mean charges for each month for years?
Why do I need to create an account?
The USPS requires you to register your name, telephone number and physical address from which your postage will be printed.
Upon receipt of your information, you will be issued a unique “virtual postage meter” identification number.
USPS requires it?
not stamps.com?
Credit Card Information (Required to purchase postage)
Why do you need my credit card information?
Your credit card is required by the USPS to set up your USPS postage account. Your credit card will not be charged unless you buy additional postage or Stamps.com products, or if you continue past the NO-RISK 4-week trial period. If you continue past the trial, Stamps.com service fees are only $15.99 per month, and you can cancel anytime. No long term contract is required.
Is my credit card information safe?
Yes. We use the highest level SSL encryption technology to secure all of our commerce transactions.
Confirm button wanted me to click on one of the scales or "no scale", but there was nowhere to click... somehow i got through.
