Woodlands Road

Nearby to our headquarters we own a small plot of land which houses our very own campsite. On site we have our stores, toilet cabin and an area for campfires and BBQs, as well as running water and electric hook up - everything needed for a comfortable camping experience.

To help fund the constant work to the site we are planning to hire out the site to other Scouting and Guiding sections as well as make it available to families of our Scouts and Guides. If you would like to know more about hiring the site then contact our Quartermaster or Group Scout Leader.

How did we come to own the site?

The site was bequeathed to us many years ago and we've had grand designs for the site for many decades. Through the 1970s and 80s we saved up and applied to build our own Scout and Guide HQ on the site, but on all occasions problems with parking on the road derailed our attempts. For the past twenty years we've been using it as our campsite, but unfortunately the site began to fall into disrepair.

In 2002 the Woodlands Road sub committee was formed to bring the site back up to scratch and in line with the latest legislation. We bought the cabins and installed the amenities currently enhancing our site. We continue to improve our site to this day and parental help with this is always welcome. So if you have any construction skills then please let us know.
