Unique features of this temple : This temple is very ancient and unique among other Sri Krishna temples. In the sanctum sanctorium of this temple one can see Lord Krishna in a standing posture, with butter in both hands, thus the name ‘Navaneeta Balakrishna’. The lord is adorned with all kavacha kundalas, with a prabhavali and is carved out of a single saligrama rock, ‘Ekasilpa’. One can also see an ancient Panchloha idol of Ramanujacharya and Sudarshanachakra.
The temple complex is very large, however much of it is either buried or lost due to vagaries of nature over centuries. There was only a small temple in the middle and no compound wall.
In the year 1990, a committee was formed comprising several Srivaishnava families to carry out restoration of the temple. A temple dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi as first constructed, to the right side of Krishna temple by the Ratnagiri family ( R S Parthu & family ). This family also built a Hanuman temple to the left side. Subsequently in 1994 a ‘Navagraha’ temple was also constructed to satisfy the request of nearby villagers and many committee members. Then the whole temple was given a much needed face lift, by replacing the sculptures in the Gopuram, main hall top etc., walls were plastered, tiling of the floors was taken up, etc., All these activities were taken up during 1990 – 1995, by the liberal donations of devotees. Smt & Sri Ajjappa, were kind enough to help in the construction of a ‘Pakashala’ in the temple complex for preparation of ‘prasadam’ to Lord Krishna. A place was allotted to perform the ‘chowla’ ceremony . A Navagraha complex was also subsequently constructed.
With these efforts, the temple has regained much of its lost glory.
Of late in the year 2010, a 'Vaikunta Dwaram' was constructed for the benefit of devotees, and to facilitate Vaikunta Ekadasi celebrations ;
Further the Hanuman Temple was renovated, completely rebuilt, and the idols of Sri Rama, Sitadevi & Lakshmana installed along with the original Hanuman idol, during April 2011.
