ATA Links

Websites dedicated to the ATA

Ann Wood Kelly in the US made this site and it is most often linked as "official". However since her death it has not been kept up very well and goes down once in while.

http://www.airtransportaux.com/

With Maidenhead starting a museum devoted to the ATA, the website is not only informative, but may be updated more often

What I am looking for is a discussion group, facebook page, rss link, something where news comes out. Only with searching the web myself did I find out about the memorial, new museum, recreation flying, medal awarded, new site with recreation, new book by Betty Lucier, etc, fall 2010. Truely amazing how much activity since I last searched some 3 years ago.

When my mother was alive she received a newsletter and when Ed Hering was alive he would share information from the newsletter with me. I wish I could provide a link to an electronic version of the newletter.

This couple made this website and is pretty good. He has two addresses, one of which has the perfect name. I think the two mirror each other.

Encyclopedia type articles:

I pretty much made the entire wikipedia entry. It has been copied to many other sites as well. It would be great to see more contributions other than small corrections.

Self publishing notes:

my word doc is 6.25"

top .7" bottom .56 Inside.5 outside .62 gutter .38 header .37 footer .37 is as tight as I dare. moved gutter to .39 for cs on line check

header footer / section breaks / special characters for language, pics at 300 dpi

(lulu) wide 6.25" but cut blank pages at end

(cs) wants 6.125" so I crop the outside edge in acrobat .125". I move some pics .125" in from the edge in word before making pdf. Moved pics for lulu are fine if it doesn't trigger a problem with their bleed program.

Acrobat job option is basically press quality with tweeks to embed all fonts

createspace cover template: https://www.createspace.com/Help/Book/Artwork.do

front cover 1839 pixel wide

back cover 1838 pixel wide

Spine Naomi Arial Bold Italic .3" GIMP setting, actual is less

Spine the Aviatrix Airstream .37" GIMP setting, actual is less

Spine Nick Thomas Arial .2" GIMP setting, actual is less

save as eps and use distiller in Acrobat press quality

spine is bit bigger and bit to the right to get spine close to right

createspace interior:

says all pics to edge, but I have been ok with them .125 from edge for pics that have no room for this much cropping.
