The Nancy Weber Garden Club will:
- Continue to encourage tree planting by purchasing flowering dog wood trees to be distributed to all 2nd grade students in public and private schools on/near Missouri Arbor Day, April 3.
- Continue to increase pride in the community by selecting and recognizing yards that are well landscaped, attractive, and maintained. Committee members will visit and evaluate gardens in the area during each season. The award will be presented along with $100 from Belgrade Bank to a home owner for their landscape design. The Yard of the Season will be featured in the local newspaper and on the Nancy Weber Website. A sign will be placed in the home owner’s yard.
- Continue support for civic activities by supporting Habitat for Humanity projects by purchasing and planting shrubs, flowers, or trees for new houses and maintain and beautify the Murphy cemetery before the local celebration on Memorial Day.
- Continue to work with other garden clubs to plant urns and flower beds in downtown Farmington and assist in the watering of the plants.
- Continue supporting a scholarship for a horticulture student at Mineral Area College. The previous year’s scholarship winner will be invited to the September meeting.
Club Activities:
- Support the local farmers’ market by encouraging members to purchase fresh produce and plants from the market and encouraging others in the community to participate in the market. Farmer’s Market is open on Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning. April-October.
- Celebrate National Gardening Week in June by sponsoring a proclamation signing by the mayor. Information and picture will be published in local newspaper and on the Nancy Weber Website and Facebook page.
- Support recycling.
- Continue to tour various gardens and garden resource centers to learn about various plants and gardening tips.
- Contribute 100% to selected state projects:
- Missouri Botanical Gardens
- Powell Gardens/President’s Row Fund
- FCGM President’s Project
- World Gardening/USA Disaster Fund
- Missouri Prairie Foundation
