Wilmington XC's Kara Bottorff finishes as their #5 runnerWilmington XC Wins NXN Southeast Regionals!! Pierce Dominates FieldWilmington XC (the team from Tatnall School) repeated as Southeast Regional Champions on Saturday in Cary, NC at the Nike Southeast Regional XC Championships. They earned an automatic bid to the National Championships in Portland, OR next Saturday. Haley Pierce showcased her dominance as she broke away from the pack late to win the Championship in 17:15. She ran the 4th fastest time ever on the course. Lindsey Olivere unattached from Archmere also punched her ticket to Oregon by finishing 4th overall in 17:30. Tyler Tate of Tatnall also finished 4th in the boys race and will make the trip to Oregon. His time of 15:22 is the fastest 5K ever run by a Delawarean. Julie Macedo, running for The Force (Charter) finished 8th and earned 2nd team all-region. She still could have a chance to make it to Oregon as an at-large runner. Other members of Wilmington XC earning the trip to Oregon are Lauren Blackwell, Kieran Hanrahan, Reagan Anderson, Julie Williams, Cara Bottorff, and Lindsay Voltz.
The Force girls (Charter School) finished 9th and Pike Creek XC girls (St. Mark’s) finished 15th. Wilmington XC Boys (Tatnall) finished 10th, Ramsey Farm Team (Salesianum) finished 17th, and Pike Creek XC (St. Mark’s) finished 26th. There were also many individuals from Delaware who competed unattached.

Delaware Invades Southeast Region
The top 7 boys and top 7 girls from Delaware are set to compete on Saturday in Cary, NC at the Nike Southeast Regional Championships. The meet will feature the top teams and individuals from Florida all the way up to Delaware, with the top 2 teams and top 4 individuals not on those teams earning the right to attend the Nike National Championships in Portland, OR. Over 100 Delaware runners are set to compete in the race on Saturday!!

2010 State Meet
The 2010 DIAA was a spectacular day at the Creek. Despite warmer than normal November temperatures, 2 new course records were set and many runners had banner days. In the end, the final team results were an exact repeat of 2009.
Tatnall swept the Division II races in style, with the girls placing 5 runners in the top 6 and the boys placing 5 in the top 10. The Division I boys race was dominated by Salesianum by placing 5 runners in the top 6 and 7 in the top 12. In the closest race of the day, Charter girls took the Division I title over St. Mark’s by placing 4 runners in the top 5.
Haley Pierce of Tatnall set a new Brandywine Creek record on the new course by running away from the field in 18:35. She now has 4 major course records on the season. Lindsey Olivere from Archmere finished 2nd overall in 18:56, and then was followed by 4 straight Tatnall runners (Kieran Hanrahan, Reagan Anderson, Lauren Blackwell, and Julie Williams). Charter’s Julie Macedo won the Division I race in 18:52, which was the 2nd fastest time of the afternoon. St. Mark’s Emily FryrdrychCharter finished 2nd overall in 20:02, followed by 3 more girls (Lexi Santer, Merideth Steenkamer, and Amanda Rickert.)
The Division II boys race featured the most anticipated individual matchups of the day. With the possible runner-of-the-year status still up for grabs, the top runners took to the line with much at stake. In the end, new front runner Travis Payne from Delaware Military Academy pulled out the race of his career and topped the field in 16:27. He established a new course record on the new Brandywine course, and won his first major Invitational in his last high school race. Archmere’s Sebastian Oja finished 2nd overall, just 6 seconds back. Tatnall runners Sam Parsons and Tyler Tate crossed the line in 3rd and 4th to help take their team to victory.
In Division I, the top 4 spots belonged to returning Juniors, with Salesianum’s Tommy Zabielski winning the race in 17:10. Teammate Matthew McKenna finished 2nd overall in 17:16, with St. Mark’s Chris Steenkamer just 11 seconds back in 17:27.
Wilmington XC, led by Haley Pierce’s 5th place finish in 18:50, took 5th overall with 244 points at the Nike Cross Nationals meet in Portland, OR on Saturday. That team consisted of Pierce, Lauren Blackwell, Kieran Hanrahan, Reagan Anderson, Cara Bottorff, Julie Williams, and Lindsey Voltz.
Lindsay Olivere earned the trip to Oregon and finished 41st overall in 19:55. Tyler Tate also earned an automatic bid to Portland and finished 41st in 17:09. Julie Macedo ran in the open race and finished 2nd in 19:06.
