Like the Arabian Mare and -Stallion, and the Morgan- and Thoroughbred Mare, the Morgan Stallion is one of the five G1 models that were cast from 2 different molds, also referred to as the 'twin molds', but none of them has such a complicated copyright stamp history as the Morgan Stallion.
My youngest dated mold 1 is the Sears 1991, but I also have 2 old plastic mold 1 5150 chestnuts (with the same flaws) that could be from up to 1992, when they switched to the new type of plastic. Possibly mold 1 had deteriated too much to get shipped when production moved to China in 1992? Both Sears '90 and '91 have a sore spot on the stampless belly, along with 'skin damages' and loss of detail, as have some mold 1 #5150's.
Almost all Stablemates have a belly stamp, but some very early releases in 1975/76, never got a stamp at all, making them a rare collectors item nowadays. For the Morgan Stallion however, this is a bit more complicated, since the Morgan Stallion I call mold 1 (seems to have appeared first) already lost it's stamp in the early years, leaving most stampless mold 1's not to be the most early releases at all. With the exception of those few extremely rare actual first releases of course.
Early years mold 2's do not yet have a dot under the stamp, mold #1 never had a dot.
As can be seen on the page below, both molds have been produced along side of each other up to about 1991/1992, after which mold 1 seems to have vanished. Maybe it was too damaged to ship to China, when production moved to there in 1992?
All G1 Stablemate models from around 1979-1983 can carry a B-stamp, indicating the use of an alternative type of 'old' plastic, to cut on costs during the 1979 energy crisis.

Comparing details in mold 1
The six mold 1's above and below all have similar damages, but it looks to me as if a couple of them have been smoothed out, specifically the one on the left below, looking like the picture is a bit blurry.
From the #5150 chestnuts, the one above on the left still has teary eyes, but so have some of my (singles from 87/88 and) Sears 90's and 91's, so that's no 1989 exclusive at all, and doesn't give a reliable indication of when the damage was done. But the Sears 1990 and 1991 both do, so it must have been in 1989 or 1990, which means that all these damaged mold one #5150's could possibly still be Sears 1989's, but I think that higly unlikely.

Mold 1 seems to have vanished after 1991. Possibly, because it was too damaged, it just wasn't shipped to China in 1992, when production moved to there?
Mold 2 got damaged in 1994 (in China), making all Morgan Stallions rather chubby after that, carrying a different stamp as well. Makes me wonder though, did they too vigourously try to clean it up, hollowing it out, or did they make an entire new copy of the mold?
