Due to family issues, I am selling my KR2S project just when it was getting fun.
The fuselage on this project is completely unique...it was built using aerocore which consists of strips of a sandwich of mahogany plywood and balsa bonded edge to edge and then covered with glass to form a stronger, more graceful shape than the normally boxy KR2S. It has been lengthened as well as widened to make the seating more comfortable.
The Diehl tricycle gear has already been installed with Tracy O'Brien brakes.
The engine is a 100hp corvair built per William Wynne's instruction manual with dual point distributer and an aerocarb. It has been installed but has not been run since right after it was built...it has less than an hour on it. I was planning on using the stock corvair exhaust logs, however when I installed it I found out that the mount is too close to the ends of the logs...so it will need exhaust manifolds like William Wynne's or Mark Jones'.
I will include most instruments...altimeter, airspeed indicator, compass, turn coordinator...all bought used...not to be considered FAA certified, but tested. I was planning on using a venturi to drive the compass and turn coordinator...it is included. I will also include a Becker AR4201 radio. I also will include wing tip lights and landing lights.
The wing spars are built for the AS5048 wing profile per Mark Langford's site. The wings have also been modified with larger spar caps to allow for a longer wingspan and higher gross weight than the standard KR2S. I was roughly estimating a 26' span. I am also including the wood and most of the foam required to complete the outboard wings including the outboard wing spars...the front spars only have plywood on one side as per the original KR2 plans. I am including the plywood necessary to complete the other side.
I had my 6'2" son sit in the seat when I was building the canopy so it can take a taller pilot than the standard KR2S. The canopy still hasn't been attached, however I was planning on attaching hinges to the header tank and using struts like Mark Langford's.
The standard sized KR2S turtle deck is also included, I was planning on splitting it along 4 lines and spreading it out to match the canopy...it should result in a graceful curve. I also will be including a standard 12 gallon KR2S header tank. I was planning on using it to gravity feed the carburetor with a 6 gallon tank (5x6x48) in each wing.
I will include the William Wynn corvair conversion manual as well as the KR2S plans.
I am asking $15,000.
