PTO Grant Process

Purpose

The Mountain View Elementary School (MVES) PTO funds programs, projects, and materials that enhance the school experience and strengthen the MVES community. Requests must benefit MVES students, the community, teachers, or a combination of these groups.

Who May Apply

• Teachers, staff, parents, and community members may submit a request.

• Teachers may include their students in determining what is needed at the school and the overall request process.

• Classroom or curriculum requests should have support from the appropriate teacher and school administration.

Submission Window

The submission window for MVES PTO grants may vary by year. Specific timing will be determined by the MVES PTO Board and communicated to the MVES staff and community.  Requests may be submitted at any time via email during the window and will be reviewed as they are received.  Grants will be subject to available PTO funds. 

Request Criteria

• Describe the need, intended benefit, requested amount, and planned use of funds.

• Show how the request will benefit MVES students, the community, teachers, or a combination of these groups.

• Identify any other funding sources considered or secured.

• For a repeat request, explain the results of prior funding and continued need.

Review and Decision

• Submit the grant request form to the PTO during the open submission window.

• The PTO will review each request as it is received, considering alignment with these guidelines and available funds.

• The PTO will coordinate with school admins before finalizing the decision.

• The requestor will be notified of the PTO’s decision. Requests may be fully funded, partially funded, placed on hold, or declined.

Purchasing

Approved purchases will be made through the PTO within one month of the request. Funds may be used only for the items and purposes approved by the PTO. Any change to an approved request must be reviewed before purchase.

After Approval

When appropriate, grant recipients may be asked to share a brief update and/or photos at the last PTO meeting of the year showing how the funded request benefited the school community. Items purchased with PTO grant funds remain the property of MVES unless the PTO approves another arrangement.
