Bass and guitar diversity

When playing chords pay attention to which strings to use - all of them 4-3-2-1, or f.ex. only a pair of them. Chord play using 2-1 can be used to improve the tonal diversity against the bass line, thus improving the effect of two different sounding instruments.

Pay attention to the proper momentum of the slap movement to get the real bass sound.

The tonal difference/equality of the slap vs. pull have to be taken care of - the pull sound has to be as close to the slap as possible for some styles of music. F.ex. to ensure egality of all notes when playing triplets in jazz or funk.

Dampening the strings with your left hand fingers is an issue of great importance both for bass and guitar lines.

When made properly it provides clarity of lines, improving the effect of two instruments played at once.
