light, lens, magic. The language of visuals
light, lens, magic. The language of visuals
Born and raised in Iraqi Kurdistan, the lens has always been my compass. My passion for visual storytelling led me to VGIK Cinematography Institute in Moscow, where I spent six years honing my craft at the Faculty of Cameraman. Since then, I've carved a diverse career path, juggling independent projects, impactful documentaries, and captivating television programs.
The war in Iraq in 2003 became a pivotal moment, inspiring my trilogy "Perrínewe" (The Crossing). This five-year project delves into the pre-war dreams, the brutal realities of liberation alongside US and Kurdish forces, and the post-war struggles for autonomy in the new Iraq. This ambitious documentary earned significant recognition, showcasing my ability to capture complex narratives with sensitivity and artistic mastery.
My repertoire extends far beyond wartime chronicles. I've explored the vibrant education system and architectural heritage of Iraqi Kurdistan, bringing these stories to life with nuanced imagery and insightful storytelling.
For six years, I served as a director at KHAK TV, bringing diverse artistic voices to life. From renowned musicians and sculptors to trailblazing writers and painters, I crafted captivating programs that celebrated Kurdish culture and ignited imaginations. My expertise extended beyond directing, encompassing cinematography, lighting, and artistic vision, ensuring every program resonated with viewers.
As a seasoned cinematographer with a thirst for innovation, I'm eager to embark on new adventures. My passion lies in collaborating with talented individuals and organizations to translate stories into unforgettable visuals that captivate audiences and leave a lasting impact.
