The Department offers both full time and part-time PhD programs and students are admitted twice a year. Students with Masters or Bachelors degree in relevant disciplines with either CSIR/UGC/GATE qualifications can apply.

Synthesis of polymers, structure-property correlation in polymers, Rheology and processing of polymers, polymer matrix composites, tribology and mechanical behaviour of polymers, membranes for various applications, antifouing and antibiofouling materials.
Functional Materials
Semiconductor nanostructures and device applications, Magnetic nanowires and magnetic tunnel junctions for spintronic device applications; Organic electronics
Computational Materials Science
First principles Density Functional Theory (DFT) based material design, Micromagnetic simulations.
