Part I Research and understand Chinese Zodiac and astrology
The following questions will guide you to go through the research and help you better understand the Chinese zodiac and astrology. Questions about Chinese Zodiac and astrology:
1) Name all the animals in the Chinese Zodiac.
2) Can you name them in Chinese?
3) Which animal is the first in the Zodiac and which one is the last? Why?
4) Will you be able to tell someone's age by his/her Chinese Zodiac sign?
5) If someone was born in the year 2000, what's his/her Chinese Zodiac sign?
6) What's your Chinese animal sign?
8) Do you have the same characteristics witht one described in your animal year?
9) What does Chinese astrology tell about one's fortune or luck? Do you believe it or not?
Part II Make a booklet of Chinese Zodiac (be creative!)
Each person from the group has to do some part of this booklet.
The following should be included in your booklet.
1) Front page design by your group with your names and subject name.
2) Include 12 Chinese animals Chinese names as well as English names
3) Include the abstract of the Chinese Zodiac story with pictures.
4) State each person from your group's birth year animal in Chinese and describe each person's related characteristics
in Chinese only. You are allowed to use the phrase in Chinese to describe. You can google the Chinese words you need.
5) The booklet has to be at least 8 pages as total.
Part III Demonstrate your understanding of Chinese Zodiac and astrology by power point presentation
Power point presentation will be presented by your group. please include the Chinese language for each slide, and
you need to present some of your power point presentation in Chinese. It needs to include the following :
1) Find 12 persons for 12 animal signs, each person for each sign, and list the years they were born.
( use Chinese language both in PPT and oral presentation)
2) Design a chart of Chinese zodiac, be creative! (use Chinese language both in PPT and oral presentation)
3) Describe the legend of Chinese Zodiac.
4) Show the animal names in Chinese and teach the class how to say the words.(use Chinese language both in PPT and oral presentation)
5) Show the difference between the western and Chinese zodiacs.
Use one example from each model of the zodiac to compare and contrast the differences.
(Ex. Rat vs. Libra; Horse vs. Leo).
6) Tell the class your findings about traits of each animal sign and explain your findings.
Are these descriptions of people accurate? Why or why not?
Remember : if you present your PPT in Chinese as well as oral presentation 100%, you will get 15 extra points.
Part IV Write a reflection paper for this project(Due on Dec. 18th)
1)Which part you enjoyed most about this learning event of the Chinese culture?
2) There may be other fun way of learning about the Zodiac.
Try any idea you think might work.
3) After watching and grading your peers’ presentation by PPT on this project, do you think they have followed
the instructions and presented what they have researched for this project? If yes, why? If no, why?
