Bio-Med Science Academy is focused on integrated core STEM + M curriculum and teaching though PBL's. Below are examples of PBL's that were developed by myself and a team of teachers. I created the websites and videos..
Create a book Trailer with an international partner in Taiwan. Connecting via twitter, I co-designed an international project with an ELA teacher in Taiwan. I presented this project at the International Society of Technology. Click the video or link above to see the lessons and my reflections on the project. This project continued for 5 years!

The team was challenged to create a school wide (9-12) PBL project. We designed a fall festival challenge for our student to design. Students presented to community members and NEOMED the final proposal.
Freshman students were challenged to create messages for the community about the dangers of pharmaceutical misuse. NEOMED Pharmacy students served as content experts and helped advise the students on the content of their messages.
One of our first PBL's we designed for freshman students at Bio-Med.

Reflection is key to long term memory storage of learning. In an effort to help our students reflect on their development of our student attributes, we developed student portfolios. Students added to their portfolios every year. This is a legacy project that we still continue today with our students. I'm currently working with our 5th and 6th grade students to create their portfolios.
Student Samples:
Note - elementary websites are not linked for public viewing - Students in the early years create portfolio websites, then share top projects via a Flipgrid presentation. Parent can choose share settings for student portfolios but our default is set to our school domain users only.
