One of the most major (and greatest) changes in the way students and teachers are being taught, is the giant shift towards using ICT to expand students learning. Technology has been improving at an exponential rate, and now students are entering high school with the technological skills better than many people currently at university. it is our role as the teacher to ensure that the students are more than just capable with technology, but rather be fluent with it, be comfortable and eager for all that is to come. Computers are one of my hobbies, I have built my own PC's and have even completed one year of a computer science degree, but i was shocked from the level of skill some students i observed had. There were a group of year 7-9 students which were meeting during lunch times to work on their programming skills, these students were very advanced and were gaining help from my supervising teacher.
Technology has made the sharing of information so easy for students, with the right search parameters anything can be learnt from the internet, it is important that each teacher provides the students with the best research methods for their specific topic, because although some search methods are universal, each subject will have a better search method.
One of the most efficient way I observed a class share information was through using a google doc, each student was connected to the same google document and they all collaborated on one document. the document contained detailed notes for all topics and was modified by any student to improve it.
When it came time for the exams the students were able to study all the required information in one document and each student performed very well.
ICT resources are available for any topic and ensure that you are able to deliver content to the students in a way that is engaging and easy to access even when they are not at school. Dont forget that most students have more than one digital device they can use.
