Birstall Zoo Gardens

Birstall Zoo Gardens is a zoological park based in Birstall, West Yorkshire. It was opened to the public on November 1, 2011.
Whilst not a major zoo, Birstall Zoo Gardens boasts an extensive animal collection with a particular focus on Asian fauna.
Prior to the opening of Tropical Oasis in 2014, Birstall Zoo Gardens was the only zoological collection operated by Weasel Parks & Entertainment in Europe.
Areas and Exhibits
Monkey House and Islands: This area is home to macaques, baboons and mandrills.
Spirit of Asia: This area is themed around Asia and holds Indian rhinoceros, Asian elephants, blackbuck, Visayan spotted deer, Napalese red panda and various Asian birds.
Lost Islands of Asia: This area is themed around the island-based species of Asia, including a pair of Komodo dragons, lesser mouse deer, lowland anoa and Sulawesi babirusa.
South American Journey: This area is themed around South America and holds ocelots, sloths, tamarins, squirrel monkeys, birds, tapir and capybara.
Big Cats: Includes the zoos pride of lions and a breeding pair of Amur tigers. This area is due to undergo extensive redevelopment.
Gorilla Island: An island exhibit for the zoos small group of Western lowland gorillas.
Many areas of this zoo were inspired by Bristol Zoo, Chester Zoo and Blackpool Zoo.
