Drawing: "Reflective Silhouette"
SAMPLES - REFLECTIVE SILHOUETTE 7TH GRADE
Our first project will be an introductory lesson on contour drawing.
Simple. Bold. Clean. Dramatic. - John Clark
Step #1: Determine what you enjoy, like, are interested in, etc to display throughout your background. Example: a student who enjoys music may choose sheet music as their background piece. The example shows a page from a favorite book.
Step #2: Once finding your background paper of choice, you will develop, revise and rewrite an informative paragraph (or two) about you. We want information that explains who you are, what you are good at, how you became good at it, etc. This final information will be written
on the background paper using pencil or a thin black sharpie.
Step #3: Take your picture. In a pose of choice (again to show who you are!), your photo will be taken and given to you for use during your projec
t. If you'd like, you may draw on this photo to help you highlight certain areas of interest or areas you want to hide.
Step #4: Using pencil, lightly draw the outline of your photo/portait on to the background paper. After drawing the outline, draw in some areas from the portrait that you would like to show up on your face - example: glasses (if you are a visual person), mouth (if you are loud and exciting), ear (if you are a good listener), etc.
Step #5: Using a black sharpie marker, color in your silhouette. Don't forget to leave some of the areas blank on the inside so they show up within your silhouette. If you would like any specific words to show up within your silhouette, don't cover them up with sharpie.
Step #6: Mat your "Reflective Silhouette" with a white frame for display and fill out your rubric and name tag. Tape your name tag in the bottom right hand corner of your frame.
