CLASS EXPECTATIONS
- Students will be expected to follow oral and written directions and to complete all assignments, including occasional extra practice assignments, by the due date and to make up any assignments missed due to absences (in the time frame indicated in the student handbook).
- Students will be expected to attend class regularly. Frequent absences will make it very difficult for the student to learn the material; information builds on itself, and students will quickly become overwhelmed if they fall behind. Students need to be in class to complete assignments on school computers. In most classes we use expensive software available for student use on school computers. Students are not required to purchase this software or have it on home computers
- Students are responsible for making up the assignments and submitting it by the due date – even if it is an excused absence. Handbook Policies are followed for this course.
- Students will be expected to be punctual in reporting to class. Any student who is not present in the classroom when the tardy bell rings will be counted tardy. After the third tardy students will start receiving lunch detention for every time they are tardy thereafter as the handbook indicates.
- Students will be expected to be prepared for class each day; this includes reporting to class with the required materials as well as having completed any extra practice. Students must have agenda each day. Students will not be permitted to leave during class time without agenda.
TEACHER POLICIES/CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN
General
- Students are expected to be quiet and pay attention when new material is being presented. Students may talk quietly while completing practice assignments, as long as the teacher is not instructing or speaking.
- Students should not interfere with the learning of other students – in this event a student may be excluded from the classroom and other disciplinary action will be taken as necessary.
- Students should remain seated throughout class and not line up at the door near the end of class.
- Students will be expected to adhere to the school policies on Academic Integrity, Electronic Devices, Acceptable Use Policy for Internet Access, and Make-Up Assignments found in the student handbook. See Student Handbook
- Students will use a variety of different equipment in this classroom. If the equipment is damaged or lost during the use the student and parent/guardian will be held responsible for the replacement of that equipment. This includes cameras, photography equipment, microphones, headphones, scanner, laminator, graphic tablets, etc.
- Occasionally we will listen to music in the classroom while students are completing classroom projects. Please be aware that the music is played for the entire class by the instructor and monitored by the instructor so no inappropriate content is played. Students are not allowed to listen to their own music using headphones. If there are any concerns or issues with this and the student may not or cannot listen to music in the classroom – the Parent/Guardian MUST send in a written explanation as to why their student cannot participate in listening to music.
- Any medications whether over the counter or prescription MUST be in the Nurse’s office.
- Public Display of Affection (PDA) is not accepted or tolerated in the classroom.
No bathroom breaks during first 10 or last 10 minutes of class.
- Agendas must be filled out properly to leave the classroom. Students are expected to remain in class for the full class period each day. Usually, requests to leave the room are honored unless the privilege is abused or the student does not have their agenda with them. School policies are followed concerning leaving the classroom.
- If a student is called out by the office or another teacher – they will use the classroom hall pass.
Textbooks remain in the classroom.
- There will be a classroom set of textbooks. Textbooks will be monitored, students should not write in, bend pages, or damage textbooks in any way. Disciplinary action will be taken as needed in the result of damage. If a student needs to borrow a textbook they will be required to sign that book out, student is responsible for damage.
- Equipment may also be signed out if needed and approved by the instructor. If equipment is damaged, lost, or stolen while the student has it signed out – the student and their parent/guardian will be responsible for replacing the equipment on the same terms/requirements of replacing a textbook.
Cell Phone Use
- Cell Phones are not to be used during class time unless directed to do so by the instructor.
- There will be a designated area in the classroom where cell phones may be placed. In the event of a fire drill phones will be carried out of the school building. A student may choose to place their phones in the area or keep it in their backpack.
- First offense will result in the phone being placed in the designated area.
- Second offense will result in the phone being turned into the office. See handbook for School Policies
- Failure to hand over the phone will result in disciplinary action.
