The goal of every speech is to share something with an audience in an interesting, informative way. The structure of every speech is the same.
1. You tell them what you are going to tell them. (intro)
2. You tell them. (body)
3. Then you tell them what you told them. (conclusion)
Audiences like knowing the end is near.
Give a verbal clue that your speech is coming to an end.
For example, you can say:
- try to use another grabber
The closing of your speech is the last thing the audience will hear. It needs to end with a bang, not a whimper. You could relate the conclusion to something that you said in the introduction. If you do, remind the listeners of that.
Summarize the big ideas
Remind the audience of what they just heard.
Appeal to your audience's emotion. There are all kinds of emotions: pride, fear, anger and hope are a few examples. Share a personal story here that allows the audience to relate to your speech. (This story is an example of a grabber that you could use). You could even talk about something that you started talking about in your introduction.
This is the time to persuade and motivate.
For example, don’t end with ‘I hope you enjoyed my speech’
INSTEAD,
give your audience something to do, like...
‘When you go home today satisfy your inner wanderer and ask your parents if you can go on a trip this summer; a trip across the great country of Canada.’
"Make them feel something and give them something to do."
Try to end your speech with a word that is the main word in your Topic. For example, if your speech is on why people should believe that the colour red is the best colour then end your speech with the word...RED.
