Tricky Words
*Take home pages for the tricky words have been sent home to cut out and practice. Please review these with your children. The tricky parts of the words are underlined since they make unexpected sounds. The children must remember to read and write those parts of the word the way we are learning. Some fun ways to practice writing tricky words/spelling words might be to use shaving cream or textured surfaces. In addition to this, your children can build the tricky words with items such as Legos, blocks etc.

Spelling Words
New spelling words were sent home on 2/9. These words include: zipper, barking, perfume, morning, carpet, forest, border. *These are two syllable words and we hare learning that we can break these words into two chunks and then segment the chunks to read/write separately. (Ex: barking : bark-ing (b-ar-k, i, ng). We will take our spelling test when we return from Winter Break 2/23.
Please continue to practice words that students have errors on in their corrected spelling tests. Phonics patterns are often repeated and we are continuing to work on the students transferring phonics patterns that they are learning to read into their writing.
