Sacred Heart College students - this page does not apply to you, we are doing a different Chemistry internal in 2016
some big Science ideas to use in answers include -
bonding and atomic structure: valence electron movements, ionic bonding, covalent bonding (sharing electrons to get full valence shells and thus stability), dissociation (bonds breaking), the octet rule, stability resulting from a full valence shell, ions being in a solution,
reactivity series (mention the name of both metals, "metal A is more reactive than metal B according to the reactivity series.",
solubility rules (you MUST write out the rule that applies for both the soluble AND the insoluble products (the final solution and the precipitate suspended in it).
observations: MUST include colour and state (solid, liquid or gas) for both reactants and products
Week 3 term 3:
a sodium hydroxide burn to the hand. Treat all chemicals with care,
and tell your teacher IMMEDIATELY so that first aid can stop a worse injury. Wear your safety glasses.
Ensure you can answer them all before the end of Week 8 critical for the upcoming assessment:
1) Do you know language and facts for the four types of reaction we are studying?
2) Watch a student do about 19 precipitation reactions
3) Take this quiz, which has questions about all four types of reaction you may be doing
4) You can print out the solubility rules here and the reactivity series here
language and catch up skills:
1) Check (or learn) your Chemistry test language here (especially if you are not sure about your English reading understanding)
2) Now learn more specific language for Chemistry practicals
3) Perfect your describing when it comes to solutions
4) Not sure about chemical and physical changes - try this activity
5) EASY revise lab equipment game
6) HARDER lab equipment game
carry on if you can,
EXCELLENCE PLUS ACTIVITIES - start learning even more
