Welcome Letter 2025

Dear Parents, September 2025

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you and your child to the wonderful world of third grade!  My name is Suzanne Moscatiello and I am eager to work with you to help your child learn and grow.  My promise to you is that I will always do my best to help your child be confident, responsible, and hardworking, all while feeling valued and cared about.  I hope third grade will prove to be both challenging and rewarding for your child; a year where he or she will make new friendships that will last a lifetime!  

Third grade is a year filled with wonderful learning experiences.  Your child will grow in many ways, not only physically, but academically and socially as well.  He or she will acquire new skills, develop more responsibility, and become a more independent worker.  As a parent of a third grader, you play an important role in your child’s success in school.  Therefore, it is essential that we work together as a team to make third grade the most rewarding journey your child has ever had!  Our communication with each other is vital to a successful year!  If you ever have any questions or concerns, you can email me at smoscatiello@sachem.edu or call the school and leave a message.

**Please also have your child join our Google Classroom as soon as possible.  Google Classroom is going to be utilized daily.  I will be posting our assignments there, all of our welcome back documents, as well as other parent and student resources.  **Students should join Google Classroom at https://classroom.google.com/c/NzcwNTgxMzIzMTQ0?cjc=6dn27o5e. (Our class code is: 6dn27o5e and they will need to use their Sachem email account to join.)

Monday: Library  

Tuesday: Music

Wednesday: Physical Education*

Thursday: Physical Education* & Art

Friday: Physical Education* 

Daily:   Recess* then lunch     

Snack: each day in the classroom -please send in a  healthy snack

*Students need to wear proper footwear-sneakers must be worn on the playground.

Although you received a general third grade supply, please note the following specifics for our class.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.  

Unfortunately, there aren’t many places in the classroom to store your child’s extra supplies.  Therefore, your child will need the following supplies to use in school each day.  All of the other supplies should remain home until needed.  Please check with your child periodically throughout the year to see when their supplies, such as pencils, glue sticks, sticky notes, need to be replenished. 

The following supplies should be able to fit in your child's supply box inside their desk:

• 5-10 #2 sharpened pencils -to be replenished each week as needed 

• pencil sharpener with case

• scissors 

• crayons

• 1 wet glue

• 1 or 2 glue sticks

• 1 pack of Post-It-Notes

• 1 pack of fine tip dry erase markers

• colored pencils  (**can keep in packages and store in desk)

• markers (**can keep in packages and store in desk)

• 6 plastic folders ( 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 blue, 1 green, 1 orange, 1 purple) 

The following supplies will be needed this year:

• 5 black and white composition notebooks

• 10 plastic sheet protectors

• on the ear headphones 

• 1 pack of index cards

The following supplies are requested, but not required:                                         

• 1 box of tissues

• 1 box of quart size plastic bags

• 1 box of snack size plastic bags

• 1 box of gallon size plastic bags

• 1 pack wipes

Open School Night will be on September 18th at 6:00 pm.  I can’t wait to meet you and I look forward to a wonderful year!
