Mrs. Malki’s Homework Guidelines
Homework Procedures
Each night homework will be posted on Mrs. Malki’s website.
Some homework will be given on a weekly basis, meaning it will be assigned on Monday and due on Friday.
We will go over the homework in class to avoid any confusion.
All work must be completed by the due date. (You can turn in your work early if you’d like.)
Be sure to write all assignments in your agenda, and plan ahead.
It is the student’s responsibility to plan their week according to his/her after-school schedule. (Mrs. Malki will help you with this in the beginning of the year.)
If you finish classwork and time remains, you may work on your homework assignments in class.
*HELPFUL TIP: Do NOT wait until the last minute to try and complete all your work!
I’m stuck! What can I do?
Ask a family member if they are able to help you.
Reach out to a classmate to ask for help.
Email Mrs. Malki.
*If you’ve tried all of these things, and you’re still not sure what to do, you may see Mrs. Malki at 8:10 the next morning for help, or complete the “Homework Notice” and we will discuss it further in class. The notice is attached at the bottom of this page.
Parent Guidelines
Parents are encouraged to:
Ask their child what he/she is learning and working on in school.
Ask their child about his/her homework assignments.
Assist their child in organizing homework materials.
Help their child plan each week according to their family schedule, extracurricular schedule, and weekly homework schedule.
Parents may, if they wish:
Help their child interpret directions.
Quiz their child and help them practice content for a test.
Help their child brainstorm ideas.
Praise their child for completing his/her homework.
Parents should NOT:
Complete the work for their child.
Help their child if they are unsure if they are helping correctly.
Allow their child to lose sleep in order to complete homework.
Parents:
Please note the 5M Homework Survey and Schedule Card attached below. You should have received this by email. If you could complete these forms and return them to me the first week of school, it would be greatly appreciated!
