What does it take to turn an idea into a business? In E-Commerce 12, you'll explore how modern businesses use websites, social media, e-commerce, digital marketing, content, data and AI to find customers, create value and grow. But this isn't simply a course about learning how to sell things online.
You're going to build a digital business. Over the course of five months, you'll move from learning the basic business toolkit to developing your own business idea, researching customers and competitors, creating a brand, building a digital presence, developing a marketing campaign and producing a Digital Business Plan.

Textbook # 1 Principles of Marketing - H5P Edition
Course Textbook 1 (PDF)
We will use Dynamic Digital Marketing: Master the World of Online and Social Media Marketing to Grow Your Business as one of our main course resources.
The textbook will provide background knowledge and practical strategies that we will apply to our own businesses throughout the course. We will also use current examples, digital tools and real-world business cases to keep the course connected to the rapidly changing digital marketplace.
Throughout the course, we'll examine businesses such as Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Airbnb, Nike, Spotify, Tesla and Starbucks and ask a simple question:
"What would you do?"
We'll look at how businesses find opportunities, understand customers, build brands, make money, attract customers and respond when things don't go according to plan.
By the end of the course, you'll have developed a Digital Business Portfolio that brings everything together — your business opportunity, customer research, business model, brand, digital presence, marketing strategy, analytics and business plan.
You'll finish by presenting your idea in an entrepreneur-style business pitch.
At the beginning of September, you may simply have an idea. By the end of January, you should be able to answer:
"If I wanted to start this business tomorrow, what would I actually need to do?"
Think like an entrepreneur.
Build like a designer.
Market like a professional.
