"A Comprehensive Approach to Becoming an Outstanding Faculty Member"

One of the myths of becoming an outstanding faculty member is that we must do everything imaginable to gain and maintain respect, and, ultimately, to secure tenure. After more than twenty years as a faculty member, I am convinced that such a view is problematic. In response, this talk will look at a comprehensive approach to faculty development that emphasizes care of oneself first. From this premise, several concepts are discussed to assess the final results of your efforts. Once this background is established, we will look at the non-negotiable parts of your career and how to make sure that these are addressed effectively. Finally, we will develop some strategies for accomplishing your goals.

Session 2, 4:15-5 pm

Discussion of topics relevant to the fellows.
