This guide is designed to help explain the importance of ruins.
If you do not know what a Ruin is then head over to the Ruins page.
Storage vs Display:
You can only keep a total of 3 ruins out on display. This limits your
choices but at the same time, you do not need 3 ruins together so
this will not be an issue. Remember to rotate your ruins depending on
which one you might be using.
This guide is split into two sections focusing on both ruins for backups
and for monster hunts (Altars).
Backup Ruins
Ruin Levels:
A ruin can be between level 1 and 25.
When a ruin reaches level 25, you receive its benefits even when it
is in storage. This means you will never need to take it out of storage.
What does a ruin actually do?
When you are doing any sort of battle, you use backups to add additional
force and strength to your army. Each city provides a different type of backup
which you can use in your battles. As you progress through the game, you unlock
these.
Once you have unlocked a backup, the ruin is available to create and upgrade.
Each ruin provides 3 core benefits as explained below.
Example:
For the purpose of this example, i will use Moonseekers backup.
When you display the Mystic Moon ruin then you gain better bonuses compared
to if it was in your storage. Simply click on the Mystic Moon when on display and
click the "i" to see what you are losing when it is in storage.
Backup DEF
If your Mystic Moon ruin was in storage then you would only gain an increase of 32%
at level 10 ruin whereas you would gain 80% increase if it was on display.
What does this mean?
This means the Moonseekers you get as backup would have extra defence statistics to
make them stronger.
Backup HP:
The higher your ruin level, the more HP your backups gain.
Refer to the information chart available by clicking "i" on your ruin to see it.
Quantity:
This is an important one. The higher level your ruin, the more quantity per
backup you gain. For instance you begin with only 4 Moonseekers per backup
when you start. When your Mystic Moon ruin is upgraded, you start to get more
for example, at level 20 Mystic Moon, you get 8 Moonseekers per backup (Ruin
on display).
What does this mean?
This means you can get more troops in a backup which makes a big difference
in campaigns. For instance, when you are doing a campaign battle, you will
notice your back ups arriving in small groups. What these ruin upgrades do
is they strengthen these backups that arrive and add more troops to each
backup.
Villages:
You can also get villages to add more strength and quantity to your backups.
For instance, with two level 2-4 Moonseeker villages and a level 19/20 Mystic
Moon on display will result in around 11 Moonseekers per backup which is alot
when you are doing campaigns or hunting.
Level 25 Ruin Buffs:
When each ruin is upgraded to level 25, you gain additional benefits as listed below.
Kings Glory Level 25 - Heavy Cavalry-Cavalry HP up by 15%
Hearthc0re Level 25 - Bold Infantry-Infantry HP up by 15%

Monster Ruins (Altars)
The Altars also work similarly to backup ruins.
You must have them on display to gain full benefits and once they
reach level 25, you can keep them in storage forever.
Each altar provides 3 specific bonuses.
Below is information regarding what each altar provides.
Frozen Egg:
The frozen egg provides the following 3 bonuses.
1 - DMG Boost to Insects
2 - Monster Hunt Max HP
3 - Decrease Stamina Consumption
Horned Altar:

upgraded overtime as you get the shards.
