If you disagree with these rankings, that’s fine, this is just my opinion. Of the top 78kg armwrestlers in the World today, as of 10/27/22. I DEFINITELY may have missed some things. If guys compete in weight class(es) lower than 78kg they can still be eligible for this list as it's a 0-78kg list.
Note: EAF or Euroarm = European Championships WAF = WAF World Championships
LEFT HAND:
Daniel Procopciuc (WAF Champ 2022, EAF Champ 2021 and 2022, all at 75kg, WAF Champ 2021 70kg. Very much would like to see him face Alan)
Alan Zoloev (2021 WAF Champ 75kg, over Mazhgan, super easily. Also won Youth Men same weekend!!! Was #1 but couldn't compete at WAF 2022 - not his fault but Daniel deserves #1 imo (and now would beat him!))
Mazghan Shamiyev (WAF runner up 2022 to Daniel, runner up to Zoloev in 2021.WAF Champ 2019 75kg. Has been consistent for years)
Oleg Cherkasov (2021 WAF runner up 70kg to Daniel, in the longest match of the event. Should maybe be third, prob won't ever get to see him face Mazhgan though unless Oleg moves up to 75. Many EAF and WAF Titles at 65 and many medals at 70kg)
Nurdaulet Aidarkhan (2018 WAF Champ at 65kg in both youth and seniors, didn't medal again LH until 2022, where he took 3rd behind Mazhgan and Daniel and smoked everyone else he faced - including Blumanis (4th) and Mindaugas)
Salih Emir Koc (2022 WAF Champ in both youth AND seniors 70kg, 2023 EAF Champ Youth 75 over Kristaps!!! And then 2nd in senior 75kg to Procopcuic).
Kristaps Blumanis (4th left WAF 2022, beat Mindaugas fresh!!! Despite winning youth 2 days earlier, where he took 1 loss and had insane wars!!! 5th left at both WAF and EAF 21", 80kg senirs, after winning juniors 75 at both! Had a very hard war in juniors at WAF, too... 3rd left EAF 2022 75kg after winning youth men, gave Emrah a war. Won 2022 Riga Open over Kaspers and Sarunas, but lost once to Sarunas).
Kaspars Gravis (beat Janis at WAF 2021 and finished 4th. Was in there with Mazghan fresh for fresh. Lost fresh to Maiorov at EAF 2022 in a mega war, then lost to Okcu, possibly he was 3rd best but gassed out in the war. Wasn't at 2022 WAF. Looked really strong at 2022 Latvian Nats. Beat Sarunas at Riga Open)
Sarunas Manakra (1st at East vs. West Eastern Finals. At qualifying event (Riga Open) he was third behind Kristaps and Kaspars, but he beat Kristaps fresh then lost to Kaspars then lost to Kristaps: they didn't do the Eastern Finals lefty, for some reason. Manakra was also 4th in 2022 WAF Seniors after placing 2nd in Masters (to a guy he placed WAY above in Seniors). Placed above Ocku in Seniors as well. 2nd left (to same guy) in masters 80kg at EAF 2023, then 14th (outta 19) in senior 80kg)
Mindaugas Tarasaitis (2nd EAF 2021 behind Daniel and put up some resistance against him - behind him were guys such as Gospodinov, Okcu and Kaspars Gravis. IFA Euroarm Champ 2022. Only 5th at WAF 2022, but class was loaded; lost to Kristaps fresh, but I think he could become 6th or 7th again for certain)
Kassymzhomart Khali (2nd junior 75kg at 2021 + 2022, beat Kristaps once in 2022. 2 days after that (!!!) Kristaps beat a 100% fresh Mindaugas. Still think Mindy is better tho, and this field is so deep that to rank Khali here, because of beating Kristaps once, is more than generous)
Valentine Gospodinov (3rd EAF 2021 and WAF 2021 both, in 75kg (was later awarded 2nd for EAF because Mindaugas wouldn't sign the stupid WAF Contact but he lost to Mindaugas. Pulled 80kg in 2022 and placed low)
Emrah Okcu (He was 6th at 21" WAF, lost to Janis fresh for fresh on fouls, but then he was 2nd EAF 2022 after Daniel, placing ahead of Kaspars and beating Blumanis in a war. 4th WAF 2019, 3rd EAF 19". Pulled 80kg at WAF 2022 and lost to a guy Mindaugas beat in a war in a sm in 2022. Could maybe be higher, he shoulda pulled E vs W finals to pull guys above him!)
Artur Krupa (78kg IFA World Champion, 2nd to Mindaugas at IFA Europeans and put the brakes on him for a while)
Dmitrii Maiorov (beat Kaspars on fouls at EAF 2022 in a mega war, first round, then lost to an unranked guy who lost to another unranked guy, but was surely spent. 2nd EAF 2019 70kg to Cherkasov so is definitely a beast!!! Did he pull WAF 2022?)
Janis Amolins (known much more for his RH, he looked mega strong at WAF 2021, taking 5th and beating Skyaev - he lost to Kaspars, and Mazghan. In 2022 he won Arizona State 185's over Oleh Moisei (2-1), Oleh is super solid for 185 lbs. Beat Kaspars fresh at 2022 Latvian nats, then laid down in finals, so their saga is inconclusive - imo he has a chance w anyone 6 down. Didn't pull WAF 2022 lefty).
Ortan Skyaev (3rd at WAF 19" in a class where there were imo 8 guys with realistic chances at the medals, then 6th left at WAF 2021, losing to Janis).
Notes: Michael Rabiner beat Maiorov after Maiorov and Kaspars war, and Madalin Sabau beat Rabiner, but I doubt they're better than Maiorov or Kaspers; keep an eye on them though.
Honorable Mentions: Johannes Andersson (2nd IFA World 2022), Devin Bair (#1 North America)
RIGHT HAND:
Alan Zoloev (wasn't able to pull WAF 2022, but is the clear #1 until beaten. Won WAF 2021, in youth and seniors, beating Makarov. He also beat Makarov and took 1st RUS Nats. Absolute monster. Iirc he's won all AMC's, but ).
Nurdaulet Aidarkhan (WAF Champ 2022 75kg over Daniel, Janis, Arman, Mindy ect. 3rd 2021 70kg - but got his result rectified for unsportsmanlike conduct. 2nd WAF 2019 to Cherkasov, many times WAF champ in lighter senior and junior divisions. Debated where to rank him, thought #1 bc Alan might've slipped (looking at the Emil match) but then saw Emil also beat Makarov and I doubt Makarov slipped as well. Nurdaulet could be anywhere 1-4, but WAF Champ deserves #2 at least....)
Emil Amirshadyan (multiple time WAF/EAF medalist at 75kg, beat Makarov at AMC 2022 and gave HELL!!!!! to Alan!!! Lost to another guy after Alan match but fresh for fresh was surely #2. Has beaten almost everyone on this list at some point or another)
Artur Makarov (2nd WAF 2021, behind Zoloev - beat Zoloev once. Crushed Janis. 3rd WAF 19", losing twice to Irakli. EAF Champ 2019 75kg, but lost fresh to Irakli... came back and beat Irakli after Arakli and Safarov had war. Pulled 70kg before 2019, and hadn't lost since ? 2016 ?)
Daniel Procopciuc (After this last E vs. W (May 2023) I thoguht he might be p4p #1 in the World - but then realized he's only 5th here!!! But how can he be above Makarov when Makarov has always beaten him? 1st EAF 2021 and 2022 75kg, 2nd WAF 2021 70kg (to Cherkasov), 2nd WAF 2022 75kg (to Nurdaulet)
Mindaugas Tarasitis (some people will say he's too high - he lost to Hristo at WAF 2022. But he gave Daniel a war, lost, then beat Arman in a war with flop wrist press, then was done. 2nd EAF 2021 to Daniel, 1st both arms IFA Euro's 2022 Also has beaten Daniel before and has 1 win on Makarov!!! Beat Cherkasov easily at EvW May 2023).
Janis Amolins (3rd WAF 2022, 4th WAF 2021, 75. Beat Varhan and Hristo. Had nothing for Daniel. Beat Corey Miller in SM in 2021 3-1. East vs West eastern qualifiers champ!!!)
Oleg Cherkasov (65kg legend, 70kg WAF Champ 2021 over Daniel. Always beats Daniel, but lost easily to Mingaugas in 2023 and Daniel always beats Mindaugas. Russian Nat Champ 2023 as well. Has beaten Emil before as well)
Kristaps Blumanis (3rd at East vs. West eastern finals, but had some of the craziest wars (Okcu 2x, Varhan, Sarunas etc. plus others). The 2nd place guy had a lucky draw imo. Also won Riga Open over Sarunas + Kaspars, etc. Multiple time EAF/WAF Junior Champ)
Sarunas Manakra (lost to Kristaps in a war at EvW eastern finals, after beating Varhan in craziest war of the day (Kristaps had wars also). Lost to Kristaps at Riga Open also, after beating Kaspars in a war, Also won WAF Masters 80kg in 2022)
Murat Varhan (at 2022 WAF gave Janis all kinds of hell, shoulda won too but refs missed Janis 2nd elbow foul. 2nd EAF 2019 to Cherkasov, 4th WAF 2019 (Cherkasov and Nurdaualet were 1-2). At East vs West eastern finals he didn't make the top 3, but had a WAR (match of day total killer war) vs. Sarunas, then lost to Kristaps)
Arman Hovhannisyan (was only 4th right in youth men at WAF 2021 (Zoloev was 1st), and then 8th in seniors. But Emrah was 3rd in seniors and he beat Emrah at 2022 EAF, where he took 2nd to Daniel. At 2022 WAF he lost to Nurdaulet, and to Mindaugas in a war. Would like to see him vs. Janis..... Won EAF youth men 2021.)
Emrah Okcu (Pulled 80kg at 22" WAF. 22 EAF was 3rd place after Daniel and Arman H, 3rd WAF 2021, placed ahead of Janis but they never pulled.... 7th 2019 WAF but lost to 1 and 3. Beat Cvetan in a war, amongst others.... lost twice to Kristaps at EvW eastern finals, all in WARS)
Hristo Delidzhakov (4th WAF 2022, gave a war to Janis and beat a (tired) Mindaugas. 5th WAF 2021, 2nd EAF 2021 70kg, 3rd EAF 2019 70kg.)
Artur Krupa (IFA World Champ 2022, 2nd to Mindaugas IFA Europeans 2022)
Filikidis Dimitris (2nd IFA Worlds, after winning masters, gave Krupa all kinds of hell in prelims)
Honorable Mentions:
The 2nd place guy from East vs. West eastern finals, after Janis - idk his name :(
Kaspars Gravis (3rd EAF 2021 75kg, after Daniel P and Mindaugas. 12th WAF. Gave hell to Sarunas fresh at Riga Open 2023, but then lost to Admandas Blazevicius (surely only bc he was tired)
Zaza Okrotsvaradze (lost on fouls to Procopcuic EAF 18", pulled 80kg at WAF 18" and somehow managed 4th!!! (Vlad was 6th, did they pull? Can't find vids). Then, was 8th at Zloty 78kg, Vrezh went 0-2, idk if they pulled... 6th EAF 19", lost to Cvetan and Artur. Beat Kaspars at WAF 19" (Kaspars had WAR first), then got SMOKED by Talgat, and lost to Hale in a WAR!!! Still looking strong in USA, pulled 76 at NuWay Nats 2023, domintaed....)
Geoff Hale (lost to Makarov and Cvetan at 19" WAF. Beat Zaza on equally fresh terms IMO, it was a WAR!!! Lost to Roman Gromov 2-1 in Oklahoma this year also at 80kg (Roman was also 70kg), and took 2nd in 70kg to Mindaugas at Arnold's. USA Champ 75kg).
Placido Gioco 9th WAF 19" Gave Skyaev a WAR fresh, lost, then beat Tudorean (Tudorean had 2 wars, even longer than Italy's though, and was fucked. He'd win fresh IMO). 2nd loss was Magzhan. Won WAF Masters 70kg in 2021, but was only 7th in masters 2022.
Mirza Bilal - a beast!!! Only 9th WAF 75kg in 2018, but he had a WAR with Russian first, then lost to Vrezh but it was still a WAR!!! Then lost to Irakli. Fresh he was 5th best in that class, minimum, and 1-4 are ranked in my top 8 (Magzhan was 6th best that day IMO but that's just IMO!!! He has way more merits than Mirza, to give his rank weight).
Ahmed Kurbanov (18" WAF Youth Champ 75kg, over Irakli!!! Was 8th in youth men 80kg WAF 17", and 11th at RUS Nats 2019 in 80kg, needs to pull 75kg again and do good (at senior, preferably).
Skyaev (2nd RUS Nats 2019. At EAF" 19" lost to Safarov but it was a WAR. Then lost to Cretan in another WAR. WAF 19" beat Italy in a WAR, beat [fresh] Stepanyan in a WAR, and still gave Okcu a crazy crazy war (but lost). Then he lost to Makarov fast.
Zair Akhmedov (beat Okcu at WAF 18", Okcu had some wars before then..... lost to Samushia and Tudorean. Put up a fight vs Tudorean! Was only 12th WAF 70kg in 2018... the Okcu he beat was NOT a top 15 guy. Note that Akhmedov used to be a beast 65kg.) Was 8th WAF 19" 70kg... lost to Cherkasov, and made him struggle. And lost to Emil but put up a worthy fight. Also flashed the Moldovan who Daniel P laid down to, fresh, twice, that guy did almost beat Daniel first start before Daniel then decided to lay down.)
Tengizi Natsvlishvili (3rd WAF 19" 70kg. Only guy he beat on the list was Varhan, and Varhan got into a lot of wars. Nurdaulet beat him easy twice. Was 7th at WAF 18" 70kg (and also won youth men that year.)
Note Davit Samushia was taken off after WAF 2019; he pulled 80kg at EAF and WAF in 19"
Other Americans... Kitowski, and Sam H have both pinned Janis at least once and have beat Hale, Corey M has beat Dawid B and Hale, (2nd Zloty 78kg 2019). Vrezh also lost to Americans. Just to name a few examples. Trust me, these incidents aren't all flukes!!! But those guys need to pull overseas (Edit: Hale's performance overseas def makes me think several Americans, the ones mentioned namely, are def worthy of "honorable mentions" / are "on the bubble".)
