For September's meeting: Former Guild member Jacquie Vaughan is in need of the following items for her art classes at Sankofa Schule Academy in Lansing: size US 10 or 11 straight needles and acrylic yarn (worsted) for her fourth graders, and size US 3, 4 or 5 16-inch circular needles and wool yarn (sport/dk/worsted) for her fifth graders. Anything you can donate will be GREATLY appreciated.
For October's meeting: In honor of the new kittens taking over the homes of some of our Guild's members, let's knit some cat mats for the Capital Area Humane Society! Knit or crocheted, 20" x 28". I've seen many of these in use at my local PetSmart. They don't have to be pretty -- they just have to be softer than the floor of a cage! Come on -- make one! There are other items on their wishlist, too, which can be found here: http://www.cahs-lansing.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=55&Itemid=95
For November's meeting: We'll be making our annual donation of preemie items to the NICU at Sparrow Hospital in memory of Kristi Garcia's son Eli. Patterns and more details can be found below.
For December's meeting: The Umpteenth Annual MMKG Hat Contest! More details to follow.
For January's meeting: Chemo caps for Knit Michigan, held in February at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills. More info is here: http://www.knitmichigan.com.
For February's meeting: Scarves for the Special Olympics. Details here: http://scarvesforspecialolympics.wordpress.com/about/
