About Mister Reynolds

I am Nick Reynolds. Before I began teaching Biology and Chemistry at Farragut High School, I earned bachelor's and master’s degrees in Environmental Studies, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, and Entomology & Plant Pathology from the University of Tennessee. My research focused primarily on biological and chemical control of the invasive forest pests. I have also organized and collaborated on a myriad of projects involving climate change, drivers of biological diversity, arthropod taxonomy, and ecological conservation. While scientific research is exciting and fulfilling, I discovered in graduate school and other experiences that teaching was my true calling. I have worked with students at the elementary, secondary, and collegiate level. I led wilderness tours to elementary children at Ijam’s Nature Center and as a raft guide in the Smoky Mountains. I have over 7 years of experience as a high school teacher, and I taught Biology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and at Pellissippi State. Most of my personal activities involve the outdoors and my lovely wife, Courtney and my son, Norris. I spend a lot of my spare time getting in shape for outdoor adventure races and wilderness adventures. I have traveled the Americas, kayaking river gorges and oceans and biking and hiking in the mountains.
