As a student myself, I was lucky enough to call the city of Cupertino my hometown and attend Hyde Middle School. Back in the day I spent most of my time playing sports. Some of the favorites were baseball, wrestling, water polo, volleyball, and gymnastics. All the while I was fortunate enough to have a number of great coaches, teachers, and role models through these developmental years.
During my high school and college years, I spent my summers working at local camps as a counselor and director. I also spent a number of years working part-time at a gymnastics studio as well as a sports club where I was helping with coaching, officiating, and childcare. All of these positive experiences have helped guide me to my career in education.
For college, I attended Sonoma State University where I received a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology with an added minor in Psychology. For my post-baccalaureate degree I grew upon my knowledge base by receiving a Single Subject Teaching Credential in the subject of Physical Education.
After college I worked in the Petaluma City Schools District and in the San Ramon Valley USD. But I am now fortunate enough to be back in Cupertino and am looking forward to this new year at Miller Middle School! I'm especially excited to coach the Wrestling and Track and Field teams. In my free time I enjoy staying active through activities such as hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, golfing, mountain biking, frisbee golfing, and coaching the Mustangs Wrestling Club. I'm also an avid bay area sports fan and love watching the Giants, Sharks, 49ers, and Warriors!
My wife and I started our family a few years ago with a couple canine friends, named Franklin (Cocker-Spaniel Poodle) and Murphy (Bernedoodle). Now, the newest addition in 2022 is our daughter, Edith. We feel so fortunate and excited for these priceless moments.
Through my years of working with younger generations, I have found teaching adolescents to be one of the most rewarding experiences that one could venture upon. While I was a student, I found my teachers and coaches to be some of the most inspiring and influential individuals in my life. Now as a teacher myself, I hope to make the same positive impact on future generations by being a passionate, respected, and reflective educator.
And as always, it's a great day to be a Mustang!
