The swing dance unit at Miller is taught in the tempo of "single step" swing. After learning the basic single steps, we will teach a handful of basic swing dance moves such as underarm turns, the wrap, the brush off, and the sugar push among others. These videos will help teach some of the basic moves that will be performed for the skills test routine.
Some students choose to move at 'double time' or 'triple time' after learning the basic steps, but not all students/partners decide to move at this sped up tempo. Sometimes the slower tempo will help pairs stay on beat and look more in unison. The choice will be up to individual students.

As fun as aerials look to be, please know there is always a risk of injury. If you are to ever attempt to leave the ground, a waiver needs to be signed by a guardian and turned into your teacher. Always remember safety measures. If learning and practicing, one should always have a spotter and use a padded mat. Safety first.
We do not promote nor encourage ariels. These are simply videos to show different styles of swing dance.
