Welcome! I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
My research has explored a wide range of biophysical processes using both continuum and discrete cell approaches, including tip growth, wound closure, morphogenesis in epithelial tissues of Drosophila pupae and C. elegans embryos, biofilm growth, fibrous encapsulation, tumor growth, and angiogenesis.
Since receiving tenure in 2023, I have been developing a general framework to describe biological systems in which growth and fluidization occur within elastic media, at both the continuum and cellular scales. I continually challenge and refine these theories through close interactions with experiments, with plant tip growth and wound-closure tissue flow serving as complementary experimental systems.
