There are many opportunities in the northeast part of the island to shop for food, other necessities, and souvenirs.
Souvenirs, Collectibles, and Art
Old San Juan is a great place to search for souvenirs, collectibles, and art. There are stores all around the old part of the city, marked by El Morro, the Spanish fort. Calle (Street) Fortaleza has many shops, ranging from $5 T-shirts to fine art and jewelry.
The Palmar Markets, in nearby Palmar, are also a good place to get some trinkets to take back with you. Across Highway 3 there are several small galleries with
If you plan to visit the El Yunque rainforest, stop by the new Visitor Center. It is a beautiful building, and there is a great little gift shop there.
Boardriders on La Pared in Luquillo has T-shirts and other surfing apparel.
Food
In Luquillo - The Amigo grocery store is a nice smaller grocery store. It is located across Hwy 3 from the entrance to Luquillo. In town, there is a panaderia (bakery), with wonderful bread located on the town square.
In Fajardo - There is a Pueblo grocery store in Fajardo, again just across Hwy 3 from the turn off.
Other Stores
Wal-Mart - There is a Wal-Mart on Highway 3 in Fajardo.
K-Mart - There is a K-Mart in Fajardo a mile or so past the Wal-Mart on Hwy 3.
