How to get data from twitter?

Without food there's no cooking, and without data there's no analysis.

So the first thing to do is get some data from twitter.

There are two primary ways to obtain data. In order of complexity these are:

1) Using the R package "twitteR"

2) Using the R package "XML"

In addition, there's a third way to get data with the function readLines

although I would leave this option only for those expert users in regular expressions
