Sculpted out of polymer clay, Book Beads are miniature books that uncannily resemble the real thing. Each double-sided book measures 7/8” L x 5/8” W x ¼” H (or 24 x 18 x 7 mm) approximately. A finished bead weighs about 0.10 oz (or 3 grams). Page ridge detail is etched on three sides of the mini-book. The spine has room for a title, name or short message. Collaged book images are then painstakingly burnished onto the clay surface. The mini book charms are then sealed, before repeatedly being glazed (minimum 3 coats) to a glossy finish, making them not only durable, but also water-resistant. It takes about 3 weeks, from start to finish, to complete a custom book bead. The beads can be made into jewelry (earrings, necklace, bracelets, pins) & accessories (stitch markers, wine charms, tie tacs, cuff links, bookmarks etc.) With a built-in hole for a headpin, each bead pivots freely and is easily recognizable. Their cut, clarity of image and design are without rival! Best of all, they are proudly handmade right here in the USA.
