1. The Dealer

In order to code the remote to your car, the dealer will need the barcode that you just decoded using the decoding guide. If you are going to the dealer with your barcode make note of which part of the code is the base code, the variable code, and the encoding as seen in section 1. BMW TIS. This is important because some dealers may not have this info.

Other than that, the dealer should have no problem. One thing to note is that the pairing procedure for the remote(as seen in the explanation of keys in this guide) needs to be carried out so that the remote will gain it’s rolling code that is needed to lock/unlock the doors. Several attempts may be necessary to get the pairing to work.
