- easyDIS Installation Hints -

EasyDIS takes some learning if you don’t know what you are looking at. This stuff is in no particular order, but you will need it all once you understand what you are looking at. This info will greatly help anyone wishing to tackle the install. It would have saved me days of searching and collecting info, trying, trying again… etc…

• You will need a VAG-COM USB to OBD2 cable and will need to open the cable and solder or otherwise connect pins 7 and 8 together.

• You will need a copy of Virtual Machine and easyDIS v.44 (SSS/Progman is not necessary for key coding)

• You will want to install the package with VM and easyDIS on Windows XP. I tried on Vista, but had networking trouble that could not be worked out. XP

worked flawlessly.

• When setting up a new virtual machine under Vmware, make sure you set the virtual hd size to be a minimum of 80 GB. I put mine at 90 GB. This is just a

virtual allotment, don’t set it to be allocated and it won’t use all 80+ GB. The install will only use 18.9 GB actual space.

• Change the IP address in your ediabas.ini (\EDIABAS\BIN\EDIABAS.INI) under section [TCP] to 192.168.68.1 and port 6801

• Add the following lines to the file "hosts" found in your working Windows directory (windows/system/etc) 127.0.0.1 Localhost

192.168.68.1 Diaghead 192.168.68.30 gt1ap gt1ap 192.168.68.32 gt1ap2 gt1ap2 192.168.68.31 gt1ap1 gt1ap1

• Rename your computer to diaghead, this matches your hosts file name above. You can actually change both to be whatever, but it cannot be over 8

characters.

• Make sure your obd.ini has the correct COM port number. It should match whichever COM port you are using for the VAG-Com cable. The obd.ini should be

placed in your working Windows folder (ex: c:\windows or d:\windows)

•On the Dis screen… Administration> Sys config: Host name should be whatever you named your computer and host file above (no more than 8 characters).

Ip should be set to 192.168.68.20, Mask should be 255.255.255.0, and gateway should be 192.168.68.1

•In Vmware… edit> settings: setup 3 network adapters under your VM install and set all 3 to custom(VMnet 1)

•In Vmware… edit>network editor: VMnet0 should be bridged to your network adaptor VMnet1 should be set as Host with an IP of 192.168.68.0 and

VMnet8 should be set to NAT with an IP of 192.168.153.0 Ignore all others

Again, GOOD LUCK!!
