Through assessment of the education system, it was discovered that the system didn’t focus on what a learner can ‘do’ rather than merely what they ‘know’ or can ‘remember.” Children would prefer to use their mind and would appreciate to develop critical thinking skills and using their senses, rather than traditional way of learning. The prime motto of the faculty is to mould the students into well-rounded and mature personalities.
The moto of the school is "creating the future today"
Diversity
Under this approach cooperative learning will be embraced. Children with disabilities will be enrolled in normal classes with the rest of the children and support from one another will be encouraged. Each child has the ability to do something and learning in a group will explore how best the children can support one other.
Reading
We believe that children learn to read with greater confidence and motivation when their books are exciting, rich and varied. We use a combination of colour banded reading schemes alongside real books and encourage our children to read a range of fiction and non-fiction texts. Our teachers teach letters and sounds and provide guided reading in class every day and generally foster a love of books in everything they do. Our classrooms are language rich environments and books are at the heart of our learning. We encourage parents and carers to read to and with their children at home and all children have a reading journal.
Adequate Time to Learn New Roles
The school will introduce new and expanded roles, higher academic expectations, and different kinds of management structures. The school will develop a sense of "ownership" and new approaches among teachers and staff and the school also will encourage head teachers, teachers, and parents to participate in training and to seek technical support.
Parents Community involvement
Backing from parents, businesses, special interest groups, and community organizations will be an important issue to deal with. Realizing the importance of parent involvement in education, Minerva school will recruit and encourage parents to become partners in learning. Minerva will engage parents and the community in articulating the vision and then recruit the community as a partner in changing the school and target school-parent programs to the needs of the community and families. Parents will take various leadership roles within the school and the community, offering parenting courses and meeting in neighbourhood homes to learn how to foster children's learning in school and at home. Minerva school teachers will visit parents at home to provide information on child development and parenting
