The Ugandan Curriculum set by the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) and examined by Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) at Primary Seven level is what Minerva school follows. In the lower Primary section (P.1- P.3), we run the Thematic Curriculum which was introduced by the Ministry of Education & Sports some years ago with literacy and numeracy as its cornerstones. We aim to put our children at the centre of their own learning and place great emphasis on nurturing skills and attitudes such as resourcefulness, resilience and co-operation. We recognise the importance of making learning irresistible, meaningful and memorable
Children in Reception follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum which covers the six areas of learning:
Personal, social and emotional development
Communication, language and literacy
Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
Knowledge and understanding of the world
Physical development
Creative development
The curriculum provided during this vital part of your child’s early education provides the foundation upon which all other learning is based. We want your child to enjoy coming to school, to be enthusiastic about learning, and develop the confidence to ask questions and find out about the world around them.
The kindergarten school focuses on developing language, numerical and motor skills. The children are introduced to the world of words, forms, dimensions, colours and texture, and sound and rhythm. All activities are designed to make learning a delightful experience.
